United States: U.S. Consular Services in Brazil Suspended

The U.S. Misson Brazil posted an alert that starting Friday, October 2, consular services at the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil are suspended due to security concerns. The consular alert does not provide additional detail on the security concerns. Foreign nationals with scheduled immigrant or nonimmigrant visa appointments should be alert for communications from their consular post regarding their appointment.

The alert also advises that U.S. citizens seeking emergency assistance should not go to the Embassy, Consulates or other U.S. diplomatic facilities, and should contact the appropriate Duty Officer as listed in the alert for assistance.
