Vietnam: Job Position Approval Now Required for the Reissuance of Certain Work Permits in Hanoi

Due to a change in practice by the Hanoi Department of Labour (DOLISA), work permit holders in Hanoi who need their work permits reissued due to a change in the sponsoring entity’s office address must now obtain a new Job Position Approval (JPA) prior to submitting the application. Previously, a JPA was not required in such cases. This change in practice adds administrative steps and costs for affected employers in Hanoi before the work permit can be updated. Currently, this change has not been adopted in other provinces in Vietnam, such as Ho Chi Minh City.
