Vietnam: New Visa Exemption for Those Who Support Country’s Socio-Economic Development
September 8, 2025
As of August 15, 2025, the Vietnamese government started allowing foreign nationals who the government considers as supporting the country’s socio-economic development, including high-level government guests, scholars, scientists, digital technology experts, senior corporate leaders, investors, cultural figures, honorary consuls, and other individuals approved for diplomatic or economic purposes, to enter Vietnam under a special visa exemption for tourism and business purposes. The status will be valid for up to five years, allowing multiple entries and 90-day stays per visit. Proposals must be submitted by designated Vietnamese authorities or organizations, with processing times ranging from three to seven business days. The Ministry of Public Security’s Immigration Department will manage issuance and may invalidate cards if eligibility criteria are no longer met. We will publish more information once more details are published about application requirements.
