Effective immediately, nationals of Angola, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, as well as nationals of other countries who are traveling from any of these four countries, must present an International Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination to enter the country, due to a recent international outbreak of yellow fever. Nationals of other countries entering certain risk regions are advised to also obtain a vaccination, however this remains optional.
The following regions are listed as risk regions:
- Amazonas
- Antioquia
- Arauca
- Casanare
- Caquetá
- Cesar
- Chocó
- Guainía
- Guaviare
- La Guajira
- Magdalena
- Meta
- Norte de Santander
- Putumayo
- Vaupés
- Vichada
The recent document issued by the Ministry of Public Health, which implemented this requirement, recommends that all visitors to Colombia be vaccinated at least 10 days prior to travel, although it is not clear whether those who do not meet this recommendation will face issues entering Colombia.
What This Means for Foreign Nationals
Nationals of Angola, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, as well as nationals of other countries traveling from any of these four countries, who do not present a vaccination certificate will likely not be allowed to board their plane to Colombia.
