JoAnna is an Associate at Fragomen’s Chicago office, where she helps businesses and individuals navigate the U.S. immigration process. As a former international student who transitioned to permanent resident status, JoAnna has a unique understanding of the PERM process and leverages this understanding to partner with clients in obtaining PERM Labor Certifications for their employees. She also advises clients on the requirements and processes for obtaining nonimmigrant visas, including H-1B, E-3, TN and L petitions.
Additionally, JoAnna has experience assisting clients with family-based immigration, humanitarian relief and deportation defense matters. In this capacity, she has represented clients before various U.S. government agencies and prepared them for interviews and hearings.
JoAnna has provided pro bono immigration services through the Cuban Bar Association and the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, including providing legal assistance to immigrants facing deportation at detention facilities in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. She continues to provide immigration support to the French-speaking African community through the Francophone African Alliance and other African groups.
