2022 Worldwide Immigration Trends Report

immigration trends report

Over nearly two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, as the world is focused on vaccine distribution, infection rate containment and improving economic conditions, global immigration policy is reflecting these goals with constantly-changing health measures and restrictive immigration policies.

In this annual report, the Fragomen Knowledge Group examines recent political, economic and cultural factors and leverages Fragomen’s unparalleled experience in counseling multinational organizations and representing the business immigration community in global advocacy work to provide a framework for understanding recent immigration trends and offering projections about the future.

The report consists of four parts:

      • The Evolution of Key Drivers section analyzes the development of the four current key drivers of immigration policy change.
      • The Evolution of Themes section highlights the main topics drawn from immigration events from Q3-Q4 2021—the proliferation of restrictive immigration policy, the continuation of competition for talent, and the digital transformation—and offers projections for these topics.
      • The Key Emerging Trends section identifies three trends we believe will impact the immigration landscape over the next several years.
      • The Strategies for Success and Risk Management section offers a ready-made checklist for high-level risk management and strategic planning to tackle key immigration issues.
