The Midyear Meeting will feature presentations by panelists representing management, union and government perspectives on hot topics and cutting-edge issues in International labor and employment law.

Cross-Border Barriers to Entry: Protectionist Immigration Policies and Their Effect on Labor and Employment Law
Protectionist immigration policies are on the rise around the world as governments alter regulatory frameworks to tilt net migration in favor of domestic labor and in pursuit of other policy interests. U.S. policies illustrate this trend but examples abound elsewhere, including the U.K.’s shift to an “earned settlement” residency model and the use of “labor market availability tests” in various countries to require local recruitment efforts before foreign workers can be hired.
This panel of experts will examine the surge in protectionist immigration policies and their implications for workforce mobility and for labor and employment law generally.
