The situation
The Czech Consulate in New Delhi, India has resumed the booking of appointments via email.
Background
In March 2018, the Czech Embassy in New Delhi temporarily suspended appointments for residence permits and Employee Cards due to a lack of available appointments for several months.
A closer look
- Scheduling appointments. Foreign nationals can request an appointment by emailing the Embassy. Applications are processed chronologically and applicants can only schedule one appointment per email (family members’ applications can be included in that email). Currently, the Embassy’s capacity is 30 appointments weekly. Once the Embassy reaches capacity for the month, the applicant can apply the following month.
- Email details. The subject line of the email requesting an appointment must contain a code sent to the applicant. Applicants must include the following information in their email: first and last name; date of birth; passport number; purpose of travel; phone number; email address, and a scanned copy of their passport data page in .pdf format.
- Approval process. The Embassy will fill appointment slots for each month on the first of each month. It is expected that the Embassy will send an email confirmation with appointment details for successful applicants on the first of each month.
Impact
Foreign nationals can now apply for Czech Employee Cards and residence permits in India since the New Delhi Consulate is the only consulate which processes these permits in the country.
