It has been confirmed today that Prime Minister Theresa May will formally notify the European Union of the start of the United Kingdom’s two-year Article 50 EU exit process on March 29, 2017.
Britain’s EU Ambassador informed the office of EU Council President of the timing of the notification this morning.
The Prime Minister will address the House of Commons regarding the process on March 29, 2017.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
It is not yet known whether key negotiating objectives will be set out in next week’s planned notification. However, it is expected that the rights of EU nationals living in the United Kingdom, and reciprocal rights for UK nationals in the European Union, will be a paramount concern for both parties to the negotiations.
