Australia: Extensions for Post-Study Work Rights to Cease
March 4, 2024
Graduates of Australian universities with degrees in select skill shortage areas were granted the right to apply for a two-year extension of their Temporary Graduate subclass 485 visa, in July 2023. This right of extension will cease in mid-2024 (the government has not provided a specific date). This decision was made in light of Australia’s changed economic environment and additional considerations flagged in the government’s Migration Strategy. International graduates with an Australian qualification who meet the Australian study requirement will remain eligible for the existing Temporary Graduate (Post-Study Work stream) visa.
