Foreign nationals now have the option of paying government filing fees using Debit / Credit Cards, in addition to Bank Demand Draft, the existing mode of payment, when they apply for immigration services at the Bengaluru Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO).

In addition, if a foreign national does not immediately report a change in residential address to the FRRO, officials will have the discretion to require the foreign national to appear in person and provide valid justification for the delay. This could include submitting a police verification report, which the foreign national would have to obtain from the local police station with jurisdiction over his or her residence.

What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals

The introduction of additional payment methods should reduce the waiting period for foreign nationals applying for immigration services at the Bengaluru FRRO.

Foreign nationals in Bengaluru should notify their immigration professional immediately whey they change their residential address to ensure compliance with all notification requirements.

We worked closely with Fragomen Immigration Services India (Pvt.) Limited ("Fragomen-India") to prepare this alert. It is provided for informational purposes only.
