Benin: Personal Identification Number Rollout Program Extended to Beninese Nationals Living Abroad

The Benin government has announced the rollout of a program registering Beninese nationals residing abroad in the National Register of Natural Persons and the National Agency for Identification of Persons, and the issuance of a Personal Identification Number with a biometric card for these individuals. This program will enable easier processing of administrative documents required for citizens living abroad, such as participating in national elections and police clearance certificates. Beninese nationals living in Benin who have been allocated identity numbers will also be issued a free biometric residence card. This program is aimed at easing access to government services and improving national identification purposes.
