CAJ News Africa: Zimbabweans’ Fears of Deportation From SA Allayed

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in South Africa has extended the validity of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP) until 31 December 2023, originally set to expire on 30 June 2023. Fragomen's Johannesburg office hosted a ZEP Breakfast Briefing to counsel clients on the best approaches to plan for the expiration. 

Senior Manager Johannes Tiba says there are several options for permit holders to remain in South Africa and with the extended validity, CAJ News Africa reports over 178,000 Zimbabweans have been living, working and studying in South Africa using the ZEP so it still remains a priority.
