Johannes is a Director at Fragomen’s Johannesburg office. He is a seasoned immigration professional with more than 25 years of experience handling all aspects of South African immigration services. Johannes plays a strategic leadership role within the Coordination Center, where he works to refine and grow business opportunities, and knowledge and service capabilities.

Prior to joining Fragomen in 2015, Johannes worked for the Department of Home Affairs as a Regional Immigration Head for the Sedibeng area in the Gauteng province, South Africa.

Experience

Provided immigration management, guidance and support with a particular emphasis on inspectorate functions.

Conducted workplace immigration inspections.

Coordinated work of sections of Department of Home Affairs at South African diplomatic missions in London, UK, New York City, USA, and Mbabane, Swaziland.

Followed-up on matters related to memoranda of understanding and agreements with host governments.

Advised multinational companies on immigration-related compliance and strategies for transferring employees to South Africa.

Worked with immigration policy review team to coordinate and conduct research on issues; perform quality control reviews on research conducted by third party services providers; and organize workshops and reference groups.

Interviewed respondents for research-related surveys.

Participated in outreach programs undertaken by the South African Department of Home Affairs.

Represented the Department of Home Affairs as a witness in court.
