Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) specializes in law and policy affecting children and young people. CCLC provides free legal information, advice and representation to children, young people, their families, carers and professionals, as well as international consultancy on child law and children’s rights.
The Migrant Children’s Project promotes the rights of migrant, asylum-seeking and refugee children and young people.
As part of this project, CCLC are seeking volunteers in city firms to assist with British registration applications for children and families for which legal aid is not available.
In the first instance, Fragomen will be committing to taking on registration applications under Section 1(3) and 1(4) of the British Nationality Act. If things progress well, more experienced caseworkers may take on Zambrano applications for parents of British children and other application types.
Full training was provided by Coram regarding the above application types and in relation to representing children and young people.
The anticipated launch date for the project is 23 April 2015 and we have committed to taking on one case per month from the launch date.
