Starting April 1, foreign nationals must submit a support letter from the Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation (DJEI) and additional documentation when they appear at the Garda National Immigration Bureau to renew their Critical Skills Employment Permit or green card prior to the permit expiry date.
In addition to the DJEI support letter, the applicant must also submit the following documents in person:
- Completed request form;
- Employer support letter stating the employer’s justification for renewal;
- Copies of P60s for each year of employment;
- Copies of three recent payslips; and
- Documentary evidence of health insurance (if applicable).
Previously, permit holders seeking renewals only needed to submit their current permit, passport, Registration Certificate (GNIB card) and most recent payslip.
What This Means for Foreign Nationals
Skilled workers who will require renewed permits should plan in advance to ensure the documentation is obtained and submitted prior to the permit expiry date.
