Current I-9 Form Will Remain In Use Through January 21, 2017; Revised Form Forthcoming

The current version of the I-9 employment eligibility verification form will continue to remain in use beyond its March 31, 2016 expiration date, USCIS has announced. Employers may continue to use this form—which bears an edition date of March 8, 2013—through January 21, 2017.
USCIS is expected to issue a revised “smart” PDF version of Form I-9, with drop-down menus and detailed instructions embedded in hover text, by November 22, 2016. Employers will be required to use the revised form beginning January 22, 2017.
