This week in United States immigration news, new government rules permit a broader range of Cuba travel and business transactions to take place without advance permission, but many restrictions remain in place.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is finalizing a regulation that will offer work authorization to H-4 nonimmigrants whose H-1B spouse has a pending permanent residence case. Though USCIS Director Leon Rodriguez did not announce a specific implementation date, he said the rule is “close at hand.”
Citizens of Germany are now eligible to apply for membership in the United States’ Global Entry trusted traveler program. Reciprocally, U.S. citizens are eligible to apply for Germany’s Easy PASS program.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada has implemented the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital pilot program, which will provide 50 experienced investors in the Canadian economy with a path to permanent residence.
Business visitors to Vietnam must now obtain Multiple Entry Business Visas at Vietnamese embassies prior to arrival. Business visitors are no longer eligible for visas on arrival.
