Guyana: Fee Payment Receipt Now Required for Visa-on-Arrival and Work Permit Applicants

In a change of policy, immigration authorities at the airport are now requiring foreign nationals applying for a Visitor Visa-on-Arrival (VVOA) or Employment Visa-on-Arrival (EVOA) and those arriving with a Work Permit Approval Letter to show immigration agents their government fee payment receipt to demonstrate that their application has been submitted to and processed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The measure is due to increasing reports of foreign nationals showing falsified visa/permit approval letters upon arrival. Employers and foreign nationals applying for a VVOA or EVOA should coordinate with their immigration professionals for delivery of the original fee payment receipt along with the original visa Pre-Approval Notice (which was already required). Those with an approved Work Permit can typically carry a copy of the fee payment receipt along with a copy of their Work Permit Approval Letter and do not need originals. The change does not affect Permit to Land holders since these applications are not subject to government fees.
