EU employers, in particular SMEs, are facing acute and structural labour and skills shortages in many professions. The EU is addressing these shortages through a comprehensive approach, which includes activating the inactive EU population, as well as reskilling and upskilling the existing workforce.
Partner Jo Antoons will speak at this event, which brings together economic and social partners (business and trade union representatives), EU companies and start-ups, Member States, local and regional authorities, international organisations, civil society representatives, law firms and think tanks to discuss better implementation and opportunities in the area of talent attraction and retention of non-EU nationals.
The Implementation Dialogue will focus on:
• The challenges in attracting talent for innovation, including during the recruitment stage and the processing of long-stay visas and permits, as well as challenges in retaining talent across all sectors facing shortages
• Best practices in this area.
• Possible solutions for better implementation and simplification of the legal migration acquis and talent retention policies.
