India/Canada: Update on Temporary Suspension of Indian Visa Services; Issuance of Electronic Business Visas for Canadian Nationals Resumes
November 22, 2023

As an update to the temporary suspension of processing and issuance of Indian visas for Canadian nationals, India has now resumed issuing electronic business visas for Canadian nationals. Additionally, visa services for entry, business, medical and conference visas for Canadian nationals at the Indian consulates in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, which resumed on October 26, 2023, remain available. Furthermore, other key services that remain available include: consular services for Indian nationals in Canada such as passport applications, passport renewals and attestations; Canadian nationals with a valid visa or Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card can enter India; the visa outsourcing agency in Canada is accepting new OCI card applications; and Canadian nationals in India can extend their Indian visas, though there may be processing delays. On the other hand, the acceptance, processing and issuance of other Indian visas or services for Canadian nationals continue to be suspended until further notice. Furthermore, Canadian nationals cannot apply for Indian visas in third countries as their applications will not be processed. It is unclear when the temporary suspension will be lifted. Affected individuals should contact their immigration provider and Nomadic for case-by-case information.
