Mainland China: New Foreign Permanent Resident Identity Card Forthcoming
September 20, 2023
The National Immigration Administration of China (NIA) has introduced a new version of the Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card, set to be officially issued from December 1, 2023. The Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card is a government-issued identity card for qualified foreign nationals with approved permanent residence applications. This change is part of the government's initiative to make daily activities more convenient for foreign nationals residing in China, allowing them to handle tasks like accommodation registration without having to present their passports. The NIA introduced the new card to enhance China's immigration services, support foreign nationals in China and expand the card's utility. Additionally, the advanced anti-counterfeiting technology in the new card ensures enhanced security.
