Effective September 29, 2023, The Department of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security now allows tourists on a Visitor's Entry Permit (VEP) who wish to extend their initial stay period in Namibia to do so in country, whereas previously they had to leave Namibia and apply for an extension or new visa from abroad. Such applicants can now apply for an extension in country by undergoing a medical examination, providing an original valid passport and evidence confirming the need for a continued stay in Namibia (such as proof of extended business meetings, conferences etc.) and paying a government fee of NAD 600 at least 48 hours before the expiry of the initial VEP. The renewed VEP for visitors will be issued within two to three days. The relaxed rules are aimed at promoting tourism and reducing administrative processes for foreign nationals employed in Namibia.
