About Namibia
Whether your company is sending employees to Namibia or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Our experienced immigration professionals partner with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.
- Namibia's immigration system provides several options for employers of foreign nationals. Business visitors require a Business Visitors Permit or a Business Visa to Namibia. Select nationals are eligible for a visa on arrival. Business visitor applicants may request an initial stay of up to 90 days with either single or multiple entries and can extend their stay for up to an additional 90 calendar days per year, provided the extension request is supported by a business letter. Frequent business travelers may be asked to apply for a short-term work visa instead.
- Short-term work visas are initially issued for three months but may be renewed twice for a total allowable period of stay of nine months. Generally, foreign nationals who intend to work for a short period and who are not on the payroll of a Namibian entity require a short-term work visa. Namibia recently introduced the Digital Nomad Visa, but this visa does not allow foreign nationals to perform local remunerated work in Namibia.
- Long-term work in Namibia requires an Employment Permit. The Employment Permit is usually issued for 12 or 24 months, but a 36-month permit is also possible, depending on the employment contract. Extensions are available.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
