Nepal: Electronic Travel Authorization System Fully Implemented

Nepal fully implemented its Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system on August 17, 2026, since its introduction in February 2024. Nationals eligible for a visa-on-arrival may obtain an ETA before traveling, although this is not mandatory. The ETA is not a visa; rather, it is converted into a visa upon the traveler’s arrival at a Nepali port of entry, which facilitates and speeds up the visa issuance process upon arrival.   

Eligible travelers entering under a visa-on-arrival can remain in Nepal for up to maximum period of 90 days and undertake tourism and limited business activities, including attending meetings, conferences and negotiations, signing contracts, and visiting sites or facilities. Employment and productive work are not permitted.
