Panama: Visa-Free Entry Introduced for Dominican Nationals

Effective immediately, Panama has eliminated the visa requirement for nationals of the Dominican Republic traveling for tourism or business. Previously, Dominican nationals were required to obtain a consular Tourist/Business Visitor Visa before travel, which generally permitted stays of up to 30 days per visit. Under the new decree, eligible Dominican nationals may now enter Panama visa-free for stays of up to 90 days per visit. Visitors granted an initial stay of less than 90 days may apply for an in-country extension, up to the maximum permitted stay of 90 days. The government stated that the change follows a review concluding that the stamped visa requirement is no longer warranted on security or technical grounds. The measure is expected to facilitate business and tourism travel between Panama and the Dominican Republic.
