Poland: EU Residence Documents to Expire August 3, Require Renewal Applications Filed Soon

As a result of the introduction of unified formats for EU citizens’ and family members’ residence documents and to remove previously-formatted documents from the immigration system, all EU residence documents issued in Poland by August 1, 2021 to EU citizens and their non-EU family members will expire on August 3, 2026, including documents stating longer or indefinite validity term. Affected individuals should renew their EU residence documents (this is done in person or in a combination of mail and in-person visits) by August 3, 2026, since if the renewal deadline is missed, they will need to submit a new application with new supporting documentation (and those who do not file their renewal application by August 3, 2026 may be fined, and non-EU family members may be barred from re-entering Poland and the Schengen Area until the new document has been obtained). We advise affected individuals to file their renewal application by July 4, 2026 (30 days before expiry) to ensure the new documents are obtained by August 3, 2026.
