Policy Paper Seminar Upcoming and Online Survey Available for Feedback Collection

The review of the South African government’s policy paper on potential changes to the international migration policies in South Africa is ongoing, and clients are reminded to participate in a joint seminar with the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), Fragomen Africa and the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) on August 19, 2016, and to submit their feedback through the online survey.
Seminar Information
Fragomen Africa’s August 19 seminar will be held at the JCCI office at 9am. The purpose of the seminar is to provide a platform to learn more about the policy paper – called the Green Paper on International Migration – and to open discussions on the topic. In addition to JCCI members and Fragomen as participants, the following representatives will be chairing this session:

Jackie McKay, Deputy Director General: Immigration Services (Head of the Immigration Branch);

Thulani Mavuso, Deputy Director General: Institutional Planning and Support Services; and
-
Sihle Mthiyane, Director of Policy Development and Research at the DHA.
JCCI members may be invited to the seminar through the regular JCCI channels. Non-JCCI members who wish to attend the seminar can email [email protected] or or call +27 (0) 11 726 5300.
Online Survey and Summary Document
Fragomen Africa has drafted a summary document to allow survey respondents to provide topical and informed input when completing the survey. Clients are advised to use the summary document as the basis for preparing responses to the survey and for cross-referencing with the Green Paper.
Clients are encouraged to submit their feedback on the policy paper until September 30, 2016.
Background
The policy paper marks the start of a policy-making process and should not be interpreted as an amendment to any current immigration laws or regulations.
