Portugal: Automatic Extension of Certain Immigration Documents Until June 30, 2024
November 30, 2023

Effective November 24, 2023, all immigration visas and permits that have expired, or will expire, from November 9, 2023 have been extended automatically until June 30, 2024. This is applicable provided that the affected document-holders entered Portugal legally, remained in Portugal and have already commenced renewal processes or family reunification processes. The government has implemented these automatic extensions in an effort to clear a backlog of visa and permit applications. We will publish further insights when there is more information available.
