Qatar: Wage Protection System Rules Amended

Qatar has amended its Wage Protection System (WPS) rules as follows: 

• • For annual- and monthly-paid workers, the wage due date is now the first day of each calendar month; whereas previously, the date within the calendar month period was unspecified;
  • For other workers, the wage due date is now the first day of each two-week period; whereas previously the due date within that two-week window was unspecified. 

The rule that payments must be affected through the WPS within seven days of the wage due date remains unchanged. Employers should review payroll processes to ensure payment within the revised timeframes.
