Quebec Skilled Worker Program Intake Periods Announced; Documentary Requirements Simplified
November 3, 2015
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced the intake periods for Quebec’s Regular Skilled Worker Program through March 2016, and will introduce an online system for application submission.
Intake Periods
CIC will accept 3,500 applications by mail under the Regular Skilled Worker Program from November 4, 2015 through December 15, 2015, and 2,800 applications online from January 18, 2016 through March 31, 2016, under a new online platform to be available by the end of the year.
Skilled Worker Program applicants can mail or use the online platform to submit their visa applications, but must use the online platform to submit a certificate of selection for Quebec.
Temporary residents eligible to submit an application for a certificate of selection for Quebec can submit Regular Skilled Worker Program applications by mail before December 31, 2015.
New Document Return Rules
The Immigration Ministry will be changing its rules regarding the management of original documents. The Ministry will only return the following supporting documents if originals were required:
- diplomas;
- transcripts (if issued by a Canadian or American institution, the transcript will not be returned);
- property titles;
- business licenses; and
- documents required for verification purposes, if they are authentic.
- Documents will be returned by registered mail or at the interview.
What This Means for Foreign Nationals
Regular Skilled Worker Program applicants should benefit from the online platform and should keep copies of their submission package since non-original documents will no longer be returned.
