Relaxed In-Country Regulations for Minor Dependents in Bengaluru
February 6, 2015
Dependents under the age of 16 are now exempt from completing initial registration formalities at Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) in Bengaluru within 14 days of arrival in India. Instead, they must register when they renew their visas. Additionally, minor dependents are no longer required to appear in person for subsequent visa renewals or other services at the FRRO in Bengaluru.
Instead, minors are required to complete their registration formalities at the time of visa renewal at the FRRO in Bengaluru. Either parent can submit or collect the necessary documents on behalf of their minor dependents.
The elimination of the registration requirement mirrors the practice followed by FRROs in Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.
What this Means for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals should benefit from the elimination of the in-person attendance requirement as well as the eased registration process for their minor dependents.
