Saudi Arabia: Minimum Salary Thresholds for Nitaqat Saudization Calculations to Increase
November 5, 2026
Effective April 25, 2027, the minimum monthly salary a Saudi national must earn for their employer to receive full credit for that employee under the country’s Saudization program (Nitaqat) will increase to SAR 5,000. From April 25, 2028, this figure will then increase to SAR 6,000. Currently, this figure is SAR 4,000 per month.
Some professions are subject to a separate Nitaqat salary requirement, including engineering (SAR 8,000), marketing (SAR 5,500) and housing supervisors (SAR 5,000). Employers should review the salaries of their Saudi employees to determine whether the changes could affect their compliance with Saudization requirements. Depending on the results, employers may need to consider salary adjustments or changes to their workforce structure.
