Singapore: Employment Duration Limit to be Eliminated; Hiring Age Limit to be Raised
March 10, 2025
On July 1, 2025, the government will eliminate the employment duration limit for foreign workers (which currently ranges from 14-26 years), allowing foreign workers to work indefinitely in Singapore under a work permit. Additionally, the government will raise the maximum employment age for foreign workers from 60 to 63, and will raise the age limit for new work permit applications to 61 for all nationals (there is currently a lower age limit for some nationals). These changes do not apply to migrant domestic helpers. These policy relaxations are being adopted in an effort to reduce the labor shortages in Singapore.
