Some Visa Applicants Subject to Visa Stamping Requirement
March 20, 2015
Foreign nationals applying for Colombian visas must obtain stamps on their visas in Bogota within two months of approval, with a limited exception. Those who fail to do so must submit a new visa application, which could delay start dates up to four weeks.
Foreign nationals with visas valid for less than three months, whether procured in country or online, are exempt from the stamping requirement.
Previously, applicants had 180 days to enter the country after visa approval to obtain the visa stamp.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals subject to the in-country stamping requirement should plan to have their visas stamped in Bogota within two months of their visa approval date. Otherwise, they may face delayed start dates and may need to pay additional fees for a new application.
