Sweden: Processing Delays Continue
October 10, 2022
As an update, government processing delays continue in Sweden, with initial Work and Residence Permit processing times unchanged at three months (typically two to three weeks) and renewal processing now at six months (typically three to four months). Applications filed by sponsors outside the Fast Track registered sponsor program currently take six months or more to process, with no defined timeline. Immigration authorities have temporarily suspended the processing of corporate applications to be registered with Fast Track, to allocate officials to clear the immigration permit backlog. Employers and foreign nationals are advised to anticipate these delays in their work start planning, and to timely file both initial and renewal applications.
