Sweden: Update to Passport Control Requirement for Residence Permit Applications
November 8, 2022
As an update to the new passport process requirements for Swedish residence permits, foreign nationals applying for initial permits in Sweden must now present their original passport and application documents in person at a Swedish consular post within 30 days of the consulate requesting their passport and documents in order to receive permit approval. Previous related guidance only required the applicant to present their original passport and did not delineate a deadline for the appearance. As this new practice develops, processing delays are to be expected.
