Switzerland: 2024 Quotas for Croatian, UK and EU/EFTA Nationals to Remain Unchanged

In addition to keeping work permit quotas for non-EU/EFTA nationals the same, Switzerland will retain the same work permit quotas for Croatian, EU/EFTA, and UK nationals in 2024. Quota figures will be as follows:

• Croatian foreign nationals: 1,007 L Permits (for up to 24 months) and 1,150 B permits (for more than 24 months). These quotas are issued quarterly, and typically exhausted within a few days. These quotas are provided for in the context of the safeguard clause under the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons. This clause can only operate for two years at a time, and full freedom of movement for Croatian nationals will likely return in 2025.

• EU/EFTA nationals: 3,000 L permits and 500 B permits. These quotas are issued quarterly, and typically exhausted within six to seven weeks of each release.
• UK nationals: 1,400 L permits and 2,100 B permits. These quotas are issued quarterly.
