Fragomen ranks #1 on The American Lawyer's annual Diversity Scorecard, a ranking of law firms based on percentage of diverse lawyers in their U.S. offices. Fragomen has been ranked among the top five law firms for ethnic diversity on the scorecard since 2012, including earning the #1 spot in both 2019 and 2022.
In connection with the ranking, Fragomen's Global Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Kanaan Generette Oliver, noted that while the firm naturally attracts diverse talent, her new role reinforced its long-standing DEI commitment and reflects an encouraging trend in the industry.
“The legal profession is behind in diverse representation, but we have seen momentum in recent years,” she noted. Fragomen advanced a “concerted effort to break out attorney of color groups” and identified specific needs for individuals as it relates to training and mentorship, the path to partnership and financial aid, including senior leaders and partners in the process.
Fragomen's top ranking on the scorecard was illustrated by 41% of its headcount and 27% of its U.S. equity partner group identifying as minority attorneys.
