Türkiye: Certain Work Permit Exemption Reapplications Timeframes Shortened
October 30, 2024
Assembly and Maintenance Visas (AMS) and Cross-border Service Provider (CBSP) exemption applications (which grant work rights without a work permit for 90 days for specific tasks) can now be submitted once every six months. Previously, exemption applicants had to wait every 12 months to re-apply. Despite this policy change by the Ministry of Labor, immigration practitioners observe that there may be a delay before consular posts (which are managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) recognize this new exemption arrangement. This may affect individuals who seek to apply for an AMS or CBSP exemption outside the country (and therefore, affected applicants are advised to apply for an AMS or CBSP exemption in Türkiye).
