Türkiye: Changes to Work Authorization for Foreign Press
December 29, 2022
Starting January 1, 2023, international members of the press seeking permanent or temporary assignments in Türkiye for journalism will be required to apply for a work permit or work permit exemption online with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Foreign nationals employed by a legal entity established outside of Türkiye will be able to apply for the work permit exemption, while those working for a legal entity established in Türkiye will need to apply for a work permit. Journalists who currently hold accredited Press Cards for 2023 must also apply for work permits or work permit exemptions with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Employers should note that they may be required to register their company on the Ministry of Labor’s online system. Since this is a developing change within Türkiye’s immigration system, some details remain unclear. Fragomen will report on any further updates as they are released.
