United Kingdom: Transit Visas to be Required for Georgian and Russian Nationals
September 12, 2023

Effective September 8, 2023, Georgian and Russian nationals transiting through the United Kingdom after October, 5 2023 are required to hold a transit visa. The change had also required Georgian and Russian nationals who were transiting the UK on or before October 5, 2023 to hold a transit visa unless such a trip was already booked before September 8, 2023. Transit visas must be applied for and secured before travel in cases where passengers will transit in the United Kingdom for a period of less than 48 hours on their way to some other destination, and the transit involves leaving the main airport building for any reason or there is a need to collect bags and check them in for onward flights. Details regarding necessary visas for passing through the UK can be accessed here.
