Venezuelan business travelers and tourists will have to apply for a visa from a Venezuelan consular post before travel. Venezuelan nationals seeking to work in Ireland must obtain an employment permit before they can apply for their visa.
Ireland has no consulate in Caracas, Venezuela. The Irish Embassy in Mexico City has jurisdiction over individuals residing in Venezuela.
The Irish Naturalization and Immigration Service (INIS) has yet to clarify how the new visa policy applies to Venezuelan nationals already living and working in Ireland.
What This Means for Employers
Employers should factor in an additional three to four weeks of lead time when sending Venezuelan nationals on work assignments in Ireland. The new policy will also delay the entry of Venezuelan business visitors.
