Switzerland: Zurich Now Requires Appointments for a Broader Range of Services
April 30, 2026
The city of Zurich has further restricted access to in-person services at its registration offices by extending the requirement to book an appointment in advance to a wider range of residence-related services. As a result, many residence permit-related matters for foreign workers residing in the city of Zurich that require personal appearance (such as permit renewals, newborn registrations and notifications of changes to personal data) are no longer handled on a walk-in basis and must instead be scheduled through an online appointment system. Previously, appointment requirements primarily applied to initial registrations.
