Shanaz is a Director based in our London office. She has more than 10 years of corporate immigration experience, including advising clients on immigration strategies and compliance and a broad range of applications covered by the UK Immigration Rules, Points Based System (PBS) and European legislation.

Shanaz advises global organisations on the full range of UK applications including settlement, nationality and European Law. Shanaz represents companies across a variety of sectors including financial services, technology, media, electronics and telecommunication. She also advises private clients on a wide range of matters including discretionary applications.  

Shanaz has been heavily involved with assisting global organisations to strategically plan in advance of Brexit, providing townhall training to business’ and their employees and assisting individuals with applying for status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

Shanaz also has experience in niche areas such as the Tier 5 Creative and Sporting visa category where she assists Polo players and Grooms to obtain visas allowing them to participate in tournaments within the UK.

Prior to joining Fragomen, Shanaz was a Senior Associate at a Big Four professional services firm working on the International Immigration Solutions team where she provided immigration advice to various corporate clients. She is also a former member of the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC).

Experience

Advised newly established companies on their UK immigration options including obtaining sole representative visas and applying for Tier 2 sponsor licences.

Advised and assisted with a wide range of Points Based System applications across Tier 2 and Tier 5 visa categories.

Advised multinational clients on corporate immigration policies, working with HR to ensure systems and processes are in place to comply with current regulations.

Worked closely with the Home Office research team to offer advice on the current immigration application process to assist them with creating a new process for applicants post January 2021.

Assisted a child overaged dependant with mental impairment to successfully apply for entry clearance under the Points Based System (PBS) on a discretionary basis. Continued to assist the individual with their extension application and subsequently Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) whilst being able to receive an exemption from submitting biometric data throughout.

Assisted with several visitor applications which had prior refusals and ensured they were successfully granted leave to enter the UK under Appendix V.

Delivered client training to HR professionals on all aspects of immigration and compliance, and Brexit presentations to businesses and individuals.
