About Croatia
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Croatia—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
Croatia is a member of the European Union and a member of the Schengen Area. If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live and/or work in Croatia, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor and depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Croatia without a visa, or need to secure a Business Visa (poslovna viza) from a Croatian consular post before your travel.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization categories are the Work Registration Certificate, a registration process for short-term work permit-exempt activities; and the Stay and Work Permit, suitable for a broad range of work activities. The Stay and Work Permit is issued for up to one year initially and can be renewed.
- Internships/Traineeships: If you're being sent to Croatia as a trainee, the EU Intracompany Transferee (ICT) Permit may be suitable. The main criteria are prior employment with the company group, a suitable qualification and a training program. This permit can be issued for up to one year, extendable to a cumulative duration of one year. Once the permit validity period is over, a six-month cooling-off period applies before you can re-apply for this permit. Alternatively, trainees are eligible for Confirmation on Work for training up to three months per year; or for a Stay and Work Permit for training up to six months (extendable for another six months). You'll need to submit proof of recent graduation (no more than two years before the application date) or current studies. Both recent graduates and students are eligible for Trainee status. Trainees receive at least the Croatian minimum salary.
- Self-sponsored: There are no work authorization programs dedicated to potential investors or entrepreneurs. However, if you're a majority owner of a Croatian company, you may be exempt from the work permit quota. If you're looking to work remotely from Croatia without local company sponsorship, Croatia also offers a one-year Digital Nomad temporary stay permit.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
