About Taiwan
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Taiwan—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Taiwan, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor and depending on your citizenship, you may use the Visitor Visa; generally valid for business visits of 14, 30, 60, or 90 days.
- Work Authorization: Taiwan offers work authorization programs for specialized or technical workers, executives, and blue-collar workers. Foreign nationals are eligible for permanent residence after three or five years of continuous legal residence in Taiwan. Special requirements apply to mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, and Macau SAR residents. If your intended work period in Taiwan is less than six months, you'll need a work permit and a visa for business or employment purposes. If your intended work period is six months or more, you'll need to secure a work permit, a visitor visa conversion, a Resident Visa, and an Alien Resident Certificate.
- Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee-specific work authorization category in Taiwan. If you're a citizen of the People's Republic of China, you may apply for an Exit-Entry Permit for training purposes.
- Self-employment: Potential investors or entrepreneurs in Taiwan may be eligible for an Employment Gold Card which allows them to change employers in Taiwan without applying for a new work authorization before commencing employment.
- Digital Nomad Visa: Applicants for Taiwan’s Digital Nomad Visa must be a visa-exempt national seeking to work for a company outside Taiwan and must have either been issued a digital nomad visa by another country or meet the required minimum salary requirement. The visa allows a three-month stay, with extensions possible, up to a maximum stay of six months.
