Update - November 27, 2024: As an update, the below countries continue with temperature checks and other health monitoring methods at points of entry, though enforcement of this requirement varies:
- Democratic Republic of Congo: as a health precautionary measure, travelers are subject to selective temperature checks upon arrival.
- Ethiopia: authorities mandate that travelers from countries that declared the discovery of Mpox complete an electronic self-declaration form upon arrival.
- Nigeria: the government requires all travelers to complete an online health declaration form before entering the country. However, it is not clear whether this rule is currently enforced, and there has not been a published government directive. Travelers should be prepared to complete the form online (paper-based forms will be provided) before entering Nigeria if officials require it.
- South Africa: no forms are required to be completed before entry. However, temperature checks are performed at entry points.
The below countries no longer require travelers to conduct any temperature checks and other health monitoring methods at points of entry:
- Botswana
- Ghana
- Kenya
The situation is fluid, and we will provide updates as more developments are known.
