Each year, 85,000 applicants are selected in the H-1B visa lottery. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, there were 780,884 applications for H-1B visas in the 2023 computer-generated lottery, up 61% from 483,927 last year. This has prompted the government to investigate cases of fraud within the system.
