Employment Permit Process Changes Require Complete Submissions and Earlier Payment

In preparation for the introduction of an online payment and application system next year, certain administrative changes will affect employment permit applications submitted to the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation (DJEI) starting October 12, 2015.
Applicants paying filing fees by electronic fund transfer must submit payment within five business days of submitting their applications or their applications will be rejected and returned to them.
Additionally, the DJEI will no longer pre-check applications to ensure they are complete. The DJEI will send back incomplete applications to applicants within 48 hours of submission and will not keep incomplete applications on file, as was previously the practice. Applicants whose applications are returned will therefore be required to submit materials again, which may delay their decision.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Applicants who submit fully completed applications in the first instance will benefit from faster decisions.
